The Wireless Power Consortium just announced the release of the Qi 1.2 specifications. This is really exciting progress, because Qi devices will now be able to support wireless charging of up to 15W. Existing Qi transmitters charge devices at 5W, and this improvement represents a massive increase in power. Qi 1.2 allows for fast charging of mobile devices, comparable to the wired Quick Charge 2.0, and will allow a battery to charge as much as 60% in 30 minutes.
